Legend Chapter 64

Here’s Chapter 64.

Just a two quick notes.

Firstly, if you feel that the past few chapters have been short, that’s because they’ve actually been shorter. The next few chapters, on the other hand, are longer than usual.

Secondly, while I will try to continue with one chapter a week, I might take a break for a week or two at the end of next month due to exams. Which funny enough, was the time I actually started translating last year because of *mumbles* procrastinating about exam revision *mumbles*. Just thought I’d give you all a heads up.

Legend Chapter 60

And so begins the 3rd arc. Thanks to Kiza for editing this chapter.

But before that, as some people seem to have missed my note two weeks ago, chapters now link to silenttranslations. If you don’t want to read it there, just go to the ToC on this site and click chapter 60, it’s not that hard is it?

With that done, here’s Chapter 60.

Also, in case anyone is interested XD .

Legend Chapter 59

Here’s Chapter 59 which brings us to the conclusion of the second arc.
Next arc coming up is Altar of Inheritance.

On that note, I would like to make a quick discussion regarding the factions in Legend.

There are basically 4 factions.
King’s faction (sides with the king)
Nobles faction (sides with the nobles which may not completely support the king, afaik at least)
Neutral faction (nobles who don’t want to side with either the king or against the king)
and the True Neutral faction (adventurers guild. They don’t side with any faction but have nothing against helping any of them)

Rei is currently in the True Neutral faction, but by being in the city of Girumu, is basically treated as part of the Neutral faction.

Legend Chapter 58 + PSA

Hey everyone, there’s a few major and minor announcements to make so chapter link will be at the bottom.

Firstly, in a moment of understanding, I realised that Rowlocks Margrave should actually be Margrave Rowlocks, the same way it’s Duke <name> and not <name> Duke. I have no idea why it’s taken me that long to realise that but I have now fixed it in all chapters, sorry about that.

Secondly, I have made some minor changes to previous chapters regarding some translations. It’s nothing story line changing though, so you don’t need to go back to reread anything. Thanks to Estellion for not bashing me too badly over translating ッ XD.

The last thing is the big one. Alyschu has kindly invited me to host my series on MBC XD. Because of that chapter links in announcement posts will now link to the chapter hosted on MBC. Of course, if you would like to continue reading the chapter on this site, I will still continue to host them here. You will just have to get to it either from the previous chapter or the ToC. However, if I make any announcements regarding unplanned chapter delays, they will probably only be on here as I may not have enough time to post on both sites.

Well, with all that said, time to find out what Gran wanted to talk about in Chapter 58.

P.S. MBC runs off a different timezone than my site but I should have set the chapter to release on both sites at the same time. I apologise if their are issues in my attempted time synchronisation.

Legend Chapter 57

Whew, here’s Chapter 57, last week burned me out quite a bit so it feels great to go back to 1 chapter per week XD.

You all want to find out whether Rei passed the test or failed it right? Right? No? Maybe it was just me then……

Well okay, since it coincides with this chapter, I would like to take a bit of time to explain Rei’s current situation, if you feel that Rei is being treated pretty normally by other characters right now, then you can probably ignore this. But if you feel that Rei isn’t being placed at the level he should be, read on.

Some of you may feel that considering Rei is so strong and all, why doesn’t the guild system allow him to jump straight up to B rank or something. What you have to understand is that Rei is strong in combat, but that’s about it. He’s only been in this world for less than 3 months and has barely any combat experience or life experience in this world.

Adventuring in this series isn’t like a lot of other series where you’re just strong, beat everything up and advance. It requires knowledge of the environment, monsters and locations. It requires social skills, etiquette and good conduct. In general, it requires competency in a wide range of areas. Rei’s final ranking is such because though his combat power is at least B rank, he is still deficient in a lot of different areas.

In other words, this is a pretty realistic view on the adventuring business. You may find it annoying that people don’t seem to recognise his abilities but honestly speaking, there’s nothing wrong with evaluating him as such. Understand that the reason the guild system is working the way it is is because it has functioned well for so long. It is not worth changing the system that has been functioning well for the rare cases like Rei, remember that there are only 3 S rank adventurers in the entire world.

Hopefully that helps with understanding the way the story is written by the author. If you have any comments or questions regarding what I said, feel free to drop a comment. Of course, if you complain about the way Rei is treated without reading this, well, read this first XD.

P.S. On a completely unrelated note, any readers from Adelaide, Australia here? There should be at least a hundred of you from Australia so one of you has to be down here right? XD

So I was thinking……

This couldn’t be a good idea, I mean, sure, it’s a short arc but I’m not crazy, right? Right?

Turns out I am a little bit crazy. So today you get 12 chapters. Woohoo! Celebration!

In all seriousness, I somehow made myself translate a chapter a day for two weeks for this and while I am now slightly sleep deprived, on the bright side, there’s a lot of chapters XD. As with mass releases, there may be slight issues so drop a comment here if a link is broken or you can’t comment on one of the pages, etc, etc.

While it isn’t the whole arc, it basically covers the entire rank up test. The last 3 chapters of the arc are in fact an introduction to the 3rd arc, which by the way is called Altar of Inheritance.

The chapters will be released at 1 minute intervals so that it doesn’t mess up the post order. Chapter 45 will be release same time as this post, 46 will be one minute later and so on. No complaining, if you read a chapter in under a minute, you probably didn’t read it all XD.

So, I won’t spoil too much but new people, old people and actual realistic human behavior. Also, pointy ears.

Thanks for reading that, here’s Chapter 45 to Chapter 56.

P.S. Don’t expect releases like this to happen often XD. They will only occur when, a) It’s my mid year/summer break, b) It’s near the end of an arc or it’s a short arc, c) I have enough motivation. Next week will be back to one chapter releases :p .

Legend Chapter 44

Here’s Chapter 44

Sadly only a single chapter again this week. My uni starts back up after the weekend so I tried to translate as many chapters as I could. And I actually got quite a few done. But…um…well……I kinda forgot to leave time to edit the translated chapters XD. Well, anyway, next week should have a nice surprise *hint hint*.

Right, back to the chapter, did any of you guess the skills? To be honest I didn’t, I’m still trying to work out the requirements for getting skills XD. Also although this is technically the second arc already, you can expect the last few and first few chapters of each arc to be some kind of interlude where stuff from the previous arc get wrapped up before the actual next arc starts up.

Also, all mentions of Corner Rabbit in chapters 43 and 44 have been changed to Horned Rabbit,  thanks to Zatrys for pointing that out. This is one of the cases where the literal meaning of the word didn’t match it’s actual meaning. The characters for horn and corner are actually different and the character for corner was used but the intended meaning is horn.
