Legend Chapter 43

And thus the new arc begins, Chapter 43.

Only a single chapter this week as I haven’t actually had time to translate at all this week. I went to Melbourne and Bendigo for 3 days for work and Friday was spent with an old friend from interstate.

Of course, when I finally got round to translating a chapter, it was a whopping 6800 characters, compared with the usual 6000… T.T

Anyway I’ll see what I can get out in the next week, for now, does anyone have any guess about new skills? XD

Legend Chapters 41+42

Hey everyone, double chapters today! There’s also some other stuff I want to say first though so the links are at the bottom.

Chapter 42 concludes the first story arc of Legend, I never actually thought I would get this far with translating when I first started so I’m actually quite happy with myself.

I may seem to be translating slowly but I’ve actually translated the equivalent word count of 2.5 light novels in under a year.

For the people who find that slow, I guess we’re just too used to people like Ren, who on that note, translated the equivalent of 37.7 light novels in a year during his time on Coiling Dragon XD.

So keep this in mind when you feel that translations are slow, we translators are all crazy, some of us are just a bit more crazy than others.

Next up is the story. I would like to explain a few things about the setting that some people may find strange at the moment. Rei himself effectively has the strength of a B rank adventurer. Together with Set, they have the power of a weaker A rank party. However, at this stage, Rei can’t actually get a B rank in the guild as he doesn’t have the social etiquette skills required to get that rank. Ranking up at his current rate is probably best for Rei, and storywise, he seems to understand that.

Secondly, in case none of you have guessed it, the next arc is called Rank Up Test. It’s a shorter,  17 chapter arc.

Thirdly, the Gallery has been updated for those interested, the light novel covers for Legend volumes 4 to 6 have been added.

Lastly, I looked up the summaries for the light novels on Japan Amazon to see which volumes correspond to which web novel arcs. By the looks of it, the Orc Village Raid and Rank Up Test arcs were combined into volume 1 while the third web novel arc, which is a similar length to the Orc Village Raid arc, was split into volumes 2 and 3.

Well, thanks for reading all that, Chapter 41 and Chapter 42 links are here. If you skipped past the wall of text, come back to read it later, there’s some interesting stuff XD.

P.S. I almost forgot, I enabled mobile mode for the site, I didn’t realise it wasn’t turned on, sorry to all those who read this on a mobile device previously.

Legend Chapter 40

Here’s Chapter 40.

Exams are finally over for me. WooHoo!!! It was quite the week, the exam that I thought would be the hardest turned out to be nice and easy, and the easy one kicked me in the balls T.T, I’m not sure if I even passed that. All that aside, still a single chapter for this week, as of writing this (scheduled post), it’s currently 12:20 am, haven’t been able to do any translating the whole week so I crammed it in tonight XD.

About the chapter, this one is a bit of reminiscing with Elk and Hobbes, and wow, Elk fought that? I mean, sure, Rei can take out an Orc King by himself but I reckon Elk takes the cake for now. Also, can anyone guess what the next arc is going to be? Without looking up the raws of course.

Finally, if you have an account with NovelUpdates, would you mind adding Legend to your reading list if it isn’t already? Currently about 2400 of you have already done so but I want to see how many readers there actually are XD. WordPress does give visitor count but I don’t know how it differentiates between visitors so it’s not the most accurate way to find out as far as I know.

Legend Chapter 39

Whoops, sorry everyone. I’ve been grinding over past exam papers and the chapter completely skipped my mind. I only just woke up as well, but I’ll get the chapter up in around 15 minutes.

Right, here’s Chapter 39.

I’ve still got two more exams in the next week so I’ve been working on past exam papers for the past week or so. These two are the more difficult of the 4 I have this semester so crunching down on as much revision as I can.

As for the chapter, another slow chapter, mainly Rei giving a few explanations about the slave system in this world as well as Elk having sparkly eyes. In fact the next few chapters are pretty slow as well but it’s mainly because it’s providing info leading up to the next arc.

Well, I’ll be free by the next week so let’s hope all goes well shall we? XD

Legend Chapter 38

Here’s Chapter 38.

1 exam down, 3 to go. So while my next exam is nearing, my procrastination levels have also gone up. Partially because this next exam is going to be the easiest one I’ll have and partially because I’ve messed up my sleep cycle. In fact, while this chapter is set to be released 9:30 am my time, I may not even be up yet then. It feels great to sleep in though considering I normally have to get up at 6:30.

Well about the chapter, just wrapping up a few things to do with the battle, nothing too important I guess? If everything goes well with my exams time wise, I might just release the rest of the arcs chapters in one go in two to three weeks time.

Lastly, if anyone reading this enjoys rock or metal music, Thousand Foot Krutch just released a new album yesterday and it’s pretty nice. It’s also one of the reasons why I haven’t got much revision done XD.

Legend Chapter 37

Here’s Chapter 37.

Thank’s to the people who wished me well for my exams. All my work, except one report, has been handed in so it’s basically exams left. I’m worried about my exams but honestly that’s a good thing, based on past experience, I do fine on those. It’s the exams I’m not worried about that are the problem XD.

Anyway, we got a nice quick fight here, no dragging out fights like some other series XD. That and Sulunin is very confused. I don’t blame him though.

Legend Chapter 36

Here’s Chapter 36

I would like to just clear up a few things from last week’s post. I’m probably not going to pick up another series, Legend has pretty much got my hands full atm. I mentioned another series last time purely because I had been thinking whether or not to pick it up for……a few months at least.

For those wondering why I don’t just translate Legend faster, there are a few reasons, which I’ll try to explain. Firstly, with my university workload, I can’t guarantee more than a chapter a week. If I tried to do two a week, I’d probably end up lagging behind in uni, and if I started to catch up with that, I wouldn’t be able to do two chapters a week. Secondly, I do keep a stockpile of translated chapters, however, this is purely to keep my translations going. For example, next week, I have two projects and 3 reports to submit followed by 4 exams in the next few weeks. Under such  circumstances, I don’t think I would be able to translate much. As a result, I release the chapters I translated previously. Think of it as me doing so to keep myself motivated to translate as opposed to trying to hold the story back. However, around summer break, I plan to release any chapters I have stockpiled in one go as I would have more time to translate then.

It’s been a tiring week for me as it’s nearing the end of semester and I’ve spent upwards of 18 hours coding for two projects in the past 3 days so I would like to thank you all for sticking around, reading and/or commenting, it brightens up my life.

Although I haven’t done a recommendation in a while, for those who want something to read in the mean time, I recently read Genjitsushugisha no Oukokukaizouki. It’s a great story being translated by Yukkuri and Larvyde. Since there’s two translators on two sites, I’ll link the NovelUpdates page, here.

Well thanks for reading this wall of text, and did I mention this chapter is a cliffhanger?

Legend Chapter 35 + Minor things

Okay, before the chapter, just so people read this.

Does anyone mind that I only put previous/next chapters at the bottom of each chapter?

Some other sites have them at the top and bottom so I was wondering if any of you feel that having both is better.

Secondly, would any of you find it useful if I put up a glossary of items, people and places? The glossary would be as up to date as I’ve translated so it will contain spoilers for those who haven’t read up to the latest translated chapter.

Well, thanks for reading that, here’s Chapter 35.

Now that the side quest is finished, onto the main quest. Also, I find it morbidly funny that no one seems to care about Murgas, whether it’s his own party or Rei.

Final note, I’m considering picking up another series. Although I don’t know whether I’ll end up doing it or not. It may be just that it’s nearing exams and I’m translating just so that I forget about uni work, after all, Legend is already plenty for me.

……I should really work on that project due in two weeks……and that series doesn’t seem to be the most MTL friendly either. Well at any rate, if you’ve read this far, thanks for listening to my grumbling XD. (EDIT: Just a quick note as I didn’t make it clear, if I do pick up another project, it will not affect Legend releases.)

Legend Chapter 34

Now is the moment you’ve all been waiting for XD……..

But first, the poll results.

About 70% of you all guessed correctly, or maybe that’s just what you wanted to happen.

For those who voted they become friends, did you really want that to happen?

And of course, the people who guessed that Rei died. He already died once, this isn’t going to be a double reincarnation story…..probably.

Well, enjoy Chapter 34. *grumbles about having so many reports and projects to do*
