The one week stay in the hospital was surprisingly not bad. The food was the same each day, but it was the same level of quality as Google’s company meals, which I had heard were quite luxurious and actually delicious. Although there were some restrictions due to being hospitalised, there was also a full lineup of drinks and desserts.
Above all, there was all kinds of entertainment in this world created by Google.
When I was alive, I only used Youtube to watch popular content, but since coming to this world, I had been completely immersed into it. In a world without Amazon Prime or Netflix, it was the main source of entertainment for workers. To be honest, the content is a mixed bag, but if you searched patiently, you would come across interesting content.
Lately, I’ve been addicted to survival videos. It was a Discovery Channel documentary about an explorer living alone on a deserted island for 60 days. It wasn’t just a video of them trying it out either. The started with no clothes and had to find water, make a bed, find food, and make clothes.
I watched many other videos while learning other keywords. Nowadays, I feel like I could start a fire if I was stuck in a forest. That said, forests we mostly went to were made of string functions and I would probably never see a real forest again, nor did I have to worry about food, clothing, or shelter.
On that note, what made me the saddest was the commercials. Most of the things that were advertised were no longer available to me. The worst one was probably the life insurance ads. After all, I was already dead.
I was also thankful that Google Play was available in addition to Youtube. You could watch movies, current TV dramas, and anime. I wonder if Saito had always been a movie geek or if he only became one after becoming a worker. There are so many options available that it wouldn’t have been surprising if it only started after becoming a worker.
While I was in the hospital, I watched TenSura, aka That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which was quite a sobering story. It was interesting, but it gave me complicated feelings. Which one would be better, reincarnating as a slime or into spreadsheets? At least, if there was a difference between the slime and me, it would be the cheat ability. The slime was so strong that I didn’t think they would ever lose, on the other hand, I don’t have any cheat abilities. All I’ve done is use a pair of branch shears to cut things and I was even hospitalised as a result of being unable to handle all the functions.
When I got tired of watching videos, I played the dinosaur game. While on a quest, I tend to think about things like when I’ll be called to help and when my next shift will be. But, while I was at the hospital, I could focus on the game without worrying over any of that. As I mindlessly dodged obstacles, I was able to get a good score. I’ve reached 5 digit socres several times and my highest score so far was 16,321 points.
That’s how, surprisingly, I was able to enjoy my hospital stay as a mini vacation of sorts.
