8. Meteor

“This is the archive corner.”

A holographic planet was floating inside a glass case.

The brown planet was quite misshapen with huge chimney like structures protruding in all directions.

“These are holograms and models of weapons that no longer exist, ones for which only records remain.”

“What is this?”

“Meteor is a planetary suicide weapon.”

“A suicide weapon?”

“Yes. It’s distinctive characteristic is the column thruster that can be seen from space, even with the naked eye.”

Propellant spouted from the chimney like protrusions in the hologram.

“Meteor was born at the end of a war when the inhabitants of a plant realised they were losing and remodelled their home planet. This is a holographic reproduction of a weapon that was created by turning planets into projectiles designed to smash into hostile planets. It is an extraordinary weapon with a warp mechanism installed on the planet itself. Its one of a kind performance was popularly received by some weapons enthusiasts. The enormous energy required was provided by sucking up the thermal energy of the planet’s core. The scale of damage if it hit something was unimaginable.”

“Did it work?”

“According to hearsay.”

This was a product of madness.
