If you think Rei was brutal last chapter, he puts on the finishing touches this chapter.

We get introduced to dungeons, a staple of every fantasy story as well as some new characters.

Also, just an fyi, the next few chapters slow down a bit as Rei updates his knowledge.

For the series of the week, for something a bit more action oriented I would suggest taking a look at Inch of Radiance at pikatranslations. It’s a Chinese fantasy story that’s a bit of mix between xianxia and wuxia in my opinion. That and the main character specializes in throwing knives.

Here’s chapter 13 and the fight you’ve been looking forward to.

What we do find out though is that Rei has a cunning AND brutal streak.

For my series of the week, I’ll introduce He-Man’s translation of Upgrade Specialist in Another World on WuxiaWorld. There’s only a few chapters but it has an interesting twist on being sent to another world, not a particularly nice one to the one being sent though.

Here’s Chapter 12.

In this chapter, we find out that the bandits attacking nobles event has been substituted for a different event.

There’s also a info dump about the guild system. Come to think of it, I wonder how a guild system would work in the modern world. There’s probably some obvious reason why no one has made one but it’s still interesting to think about.

Lastly, my recommendation of week is the King’s Avatar at gravity tales. For those who aren’t reading it, it’s about a gaming pro who gets kicked out of team for various reasons. He then proceeds to start a new character on a new server and takes serious trolling to a whole new level. If you play league, it’s kinda like what Dyrus is doing at the moment, why else would he run Ultimate Bravery in a Gold V ranked and still carry.

I stayed up for the new year but the fireworks in my area were really depressing.

Anyway, about the chapter, it feels like it’s been a while since I’ve seen a nice and competent guard. The world’s currency is also introduced, which leads me to another thing. I can’t figure out what the name largest currency is meant to be, if anyone has any suggestions after reading the TL note in the chapter, drop a comment below.

Also, it’s become a bit of a habit to share a series that I’m reading every week now. On the idea of non mainstream weapons, Madan ou to Vanadis is a good read, while not unconventional, a bow is still a rare weapon for a MC. 12 translated volumes can be read here setsuna86blog.wordpress.com. He seems to keep disappearing at the end of each of the recent volumes though, not exactly an easy life for him.

Surprise, surprise, early chapter! Chapter 9

I got some stuff going on tomorrow so I thought I’d post this earlier.

For those who are wondering when they will find civilization of any sort, the answer is soon, very soon.

Also, just a note, at the moment, I have to approve the first comment from any user that comments, any comment after that is automatically approved. So if your comment doesn’t show, that’s probably because I’m asleep and haven’t approved it yet.

Finally, my time zone is GMT +9:30, so while I say my releases are on weekends, for those in America, it’s either Friday or Saturday…I think.

THE HORDE! IT COMES!

Well, you’ll get it after you read the chapter. Sadly it’s not the orc horde which should appear sometime considering the arc name.

About orcs, ever since I saw WH40K orks, I confuse the two. But because orks stick in my memory more clearly than orcs, I end up imagining orcs = orks. Because of that, reading Legendary Moonlight Sculptor got a little bit weird in my imagination when Weed turned himself into the the orc Karawachi and led an army of them to fight the undead.

Edit: I’ve just checked a couple of the older chapters and it seems I’ve forgotten to enable comments on some of them, in case I do that in future and someone wants to comment, drop a note on the announcement post.

And here is chapter 7, was hoping to get it out sooner but my net has been a bit dodgy lately and its impossibly hard to load web pages.

Also, just a random thought, but am I the only one who thinks that if Rei used all his magic power and burnt the entire forest down it would end up something like the start of Death March?
