The Story of Two Brothers, a Hero and a Carpenter

Here’s the first actual short story one-shot that I’ve ever translated, Link.

I was browsing Syosetu for stories when I came across this one.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, despite getting emotional near the end, while reading and translating.

When I read, I tend to bury myself into the story and will easily get affected by emotions characters show, which is probably why I don’t stories with horror or psychological that much.

That said, I’m a sucker for stories like this, even though it will leave me pretty drained for the rest of the day or until I read something a bit more lighthearted.

How to Make a Delicious Tomato and Egg Stir Fry

Hey Everyone,

Another one-shot for your perusal.
Similar to the last one, this is more of an author’s personal story rather than a novel.
It sounded like an interesting read so I translated it.
Turns out it really isn’t that interesting, but I’ve done it so I might as well post it.

Link to the translation here.

On a related note, there will be a second one-shot posted today, this time an actual short story.

On an unrelated note, for anyone using the RSS feeds, I’ve taken a look on the back-end but RSS feed should be active as far as I can tell. If the RSS feeds stopped working roughly two weeks ago, then it looks like changing hosts might have affected it. The only thing I can think of would be unsubscribing from the feed and re-subscribing to it. I will continue to look into it from my end, but there’s not too many settings I can change that would seem to fix the issues that people are having.

One-shots, future translation plans and How to use European style names in otherworld fantasy (One-shot)

So, this needs a bit of backstory.
I started translating Legend a bit over 3 years ago, which at the time I didn’t realise how big an undertaking I was getting into.
And at some point, the realisation hit me that realistically, I’m never going to finish translating it.

I didn’t want to be a translator that never finished anything, so about 2 years ago in 2017, I started working on a short webnovel series……that I still haven’t finished after 2 years despite it being the same length as 20 Legend chapters or so.

Hitting upon the realisation that I still procrastinated too much to get a short series translated, I decided to do a one-shot instead.
One which is about 2 Legend chapters long.
Which still took me 3 months to finish translating.

Either way, I would like to present a translation……of an essay……posted on Syosetu.

An extra menu tab for one-shots has been added next to Legend and random one-shots will be posted here sporadically.

In terms of future translation plans for now, I have told myself I will finish that short series I’ve been working on before the new year, so look forward to that.

There’s also another one-shot that Aurum from zirusmusings has been asking me to translate, so maybe you might see another one-shot about how to cook stir fried tomato and eggs in the near future.

In case, it isn’t obvious by now, all the one-shots I will translate are going to be the most random things I find on Syosetu that look interesting.

And for anyone wondering about Legend, same as usual for the near future.
